I am devoting time to legislative business, campaigning, book writing and promotion and work around our place. The days are full. I am heartened by the reception I'm receiving when I'm out and about. My positions as chair of the Legacy Funding Division and the Civil War Task Force have been very fulfilling and time consuming. I've traveled statewide speaking to groups in these capacities.
I'm currently involved in the sesquecentennial of the U.S. Dakota War of 1862. I'm advocating knowledge, understanding and healing regarding this tragic event. We had a successful series of events dealing with the war. I spoke at a Pow Wow in Mankato, at Camp Release in Montevideo and at many history gatherings. The Gathering of Descendents sponsored by the West Central Tribune and Ridgewater College, moderated by me, was very meaningful to many people. We have more to do.
I have many upcoming meetings dealing with such divergent topics as watersheds, highways, education and our states' history. The campaign is winding down and I can't wait for election day.
I will continue to stress these items: redesign of government, smaller government, economic freedom, jobs and individual liberty. I frequently receive constituent requests and I'm presently working on several problems.
Until next time,
Dean
